I'm alive, with an exciting new job...

Alas, some word.. And certainly, I ought to apologize for just fading off into the wild blue yonder! But it was being overwhelmed and the lust to excel combined with a need to learn and fast, that prevented me from doing anything artistic. Sad but true. My torch and kiln haven't been touched in months! So no glass. Though I have product, just spare time deprived.I have made a pair of turquoise earrings though. It's no consolation however but here's my story for those interested:

So, in November I was hired to outreach to women ages 40-64 for breast and cervical screening. I work for the Well Woman Healthcheck Program (WWHP) here in Flagstaff. Our program territory is quite large encompassing both Coconino and Navajo Counties, which span across most of Northern Arizona. We've already had our first two screening days of 2008 during which we were able to reach 71 women for breast cancer by providing these women with mammograms in both Flagstaff and Winslow.

I've been busy learning how to schedule women in our clinic setting, learning how to qualify women for our program and answer their questions during calls, and help guide 2 awesome ladies working the outreach program with me! Doing this in Spanish has been increasingly complex. I have certainly been challenged! As well, I've been lucky enough to go to Texas twice since starting for conferences on breast cancer which both left me motivated, touched, excited and anxious to put all this new knowledge into action!

The WWHP has our next screening in Williams, AZ on Friday March 14th!
